NOTES:

In this episode, we explore the various uses of high shots.

Other techniques:

  • Needle-in-Haystack - A shot that shows the audience a small hidden secret within a big space that no one else knows about.

  • Oversized Props - These can create a clausterphobic feeling in a small space.

  • Small Talk - during a tense moment, the characters talk about something entirely trivial.

  • Surprise Twist - Setting up a small unnoticable plot element that becomes a big surprise later.

The full episode of "Banquo's Chair" (1959) can be found on DVD.
